Grab your crew, pack your lawn chair, and get ready for a movie night with a throwback twist in
The West District “Throwback” Cinema Series is bringing some nostalgic favourites to the big screen at Radio Park (Broadcast Avenue & 78th Street S.W.). This September, we’re going back to the classics with movies that defined a generation and are still just as fun to watch today.
First up: Shrek (2001).
What to Bring
Bring your own seating – lawn chairs, blankets, cushions, or whatever you need to get comfortable on the grass. 722 World Bier Haus will be providing movie snacks, including popcorn, drinks and a candy bar while supplies last.
And because one throwback is never enough, the series continues with another movie night on September 26, 2026.
No fancy theatre required. Just bring your people, your seating and your love for a good throwback.
Rain or shine! Unless extreme wind or heavy rain creates unsafe conditions, our movie in the park event will go ahead as planned. Please come prepared for the weather, dress warmly, and bring extra blankets and umbrellas if needed. Any changes to the event will be shared on the West District Instagram and Facebook.
Parking
West District is Calgary’s ultimate walkable community! If you’re a resident or coming from a neighbouring community, we encourage you to walk to our movie in the park and enjoy the neighbourhood along the way. For guests arriving by vehicle, limited public parking is available on surrounding streets and in the underground parkades at HQ, Gateway, and Mondrian.
