Thanksgiving Food Drive
Give Thanks. Give Back. Get pie.
This Thanksgiving weekend, West District is coming together to support the Calgary Food Bank with a community food drive on October 10 & 11.
Bring a donation to the Truman Discovery Centre and, as a little thank you for giving back, receive a voucher for a complimentary mini Pumpkin Pie from Pie Junkie West District.*

How it works
1. Bring your donation
Visit the West District Sales Centre on Saturday, October 10 or Sunday, October 11 from 12:00 PM–5:00 PM with a minimum donation of 2 or more non-perishable food items.
2. Receive your Pie Junkie voucher
Receive one voucher for a complimentary mini Pumpkin Pie for each qualifying donation of 2 items, up to a maximum of 2 vouchers per household.
3. Pick up your pie
Redeem your voucher at Pie Junkie on Saturday October 10 or Sunday October 11.

4. Help us give back
At the end of the day, the Truman team will collect all donated items and deliver them directly to the Calgary Food Bank.
What to donate
Not sure what to bring? The Calgary Food Bank is currently looking for the following high-need items:
GRAINS
- Pasta (900 g)
- Rice (2 kg)
- Healthy cereals
- Instant oatmeal (280 g box)
- All-purpose flour (1 kg)
PROTEIN
- Peanut butter (500 g)
- Canned beans (398 ml)
- Canned fish & meat (184 g)
- Dry beans or lentils (454 g bag)
OTHER PANTRY ITEMS
- Canned pasta sauce (398 ml)
- Canned vegetables or fruit (341 ml)
- Canned soup (284 ml)
- School snacks (42 g box)
- Granola bars (42 g box)
BABY ITEMS
- Diapers, sizes 1–6
- Powdered baby formula (900 g)
Larger donations are always welcome.
Items the Calgary Food Bank cannot accept
To help ensure your donation can be distributed, please do not bring:
- Broken or open packages
- Homemade canned or jarred food
- Home-grown fruit
- High-sugar drinks, including soda and energy drinks
- High-sugar cereals
- Alcohol, tobacco or vaping products
- Supplements or vitamins
- Medications
- Dented or unlabelled cans

You can still take part.
The Calgary Food Bank has created a dedicated online donation page for the West District Thanksgiving Food Drive, making it easy to contribute directly even if you can’t visit the Discovery Centre during the event.
Every contribution helps support Calgarians in need this Thanksgiving.
*One Pie Junkie voucher per 2 donated non-perishable items, up to 2 vouchers per household. While quantities last. Additional donations are strongly encouraged. Vouchers must be redeemed by 7:00 PM on October 11, 2026 at Pie Junkie West District only. Online cash donations do not qualify for a Pie Junkie voucher.
